I was reading a blog post today on the appropriate spelling of pantsuit, (is it “pantsuit” or “pant suit”?), and I couldn’t resist bringing to the bloggers attention the glaringly obvious solution to her ever so troubling quandary. Couldn’t we just abolish the whole concept of the pantsuit in general, there for eliminating grammatical strife? I assume that the woman’s pant suit was invented to try to ease the introduction of us gals in the testosterone dominant work place, but we’ve made or presence clear by now. We could push even further if we embraced our gender and wore clothing styles that were designed for our form, not the gents. What happened to garments constructed to emphasize the beauty of the female form like wiggle skirts and dresses cut on a bias? Shapewear, why do our stomaches turn sour at the thought of wearing it? It’s not about being in denial or being complacent, avoiding exercise and diet. Shapewear should not make you feel guilty.
